Baptism Thoughts

This past Sunday we were blessed to be able to baptize one of our own. In the sacrament of baptism, we are invited again to celebrate the truth of God’s grace. Ephesians 2 echoes this, saying “4 Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions…8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.” The good news of Jesus has always been a movement of God toward humanity. If we attempted to make ourselves right with God, we would not be able. But He extends His hand to us, because He is love.

Jesus is God the Father’s beloved one. We find our identity in Jesus. And because of the price Jesus paid on our behalf, we too are the Father’s beloved, in whom He finds great delight. Baptism is a sign of that covenant initiated by God.  It is a powerful movement that God makes to display His love for His people.

Be blessed today, and know that the One who created everything loves you and is pursuing you.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
