Lent Begins & Worship this Sunday, March 9th at the Fairhaven Library

lentToday is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent (a season of preparation for Easter). As you begin the season, I encourage you to consider how you will prepare to celebrate Easter. Some give something up to remind them of Christ’s sacrifice for us. Other add a spiritual practice to heighten their senses to the resurrection realities. Whatever you do, do it with an intention of opening yourself to what God has to show you. One resource that engages both practices of withdraw and engagement is from Nadia Bolz-Weber, a Lutheran pastor in Denver. If it suits you, great. If not, move on to something else. Whatever you do, do it with an intention of opening yourself to what God has to show you. This coming Sunday, The Table is gathering for a worship gathering at the Fairhaven Library (1117 12th St). Beginning at 5:30pm, we’ll have a shared meal. So bring something to share. We begin week on a teaching series on legacy and living with purpose. If you want to read ahead in preparation, look at Acts 19 and think about the legacy Paul was building in Ephesus.

Also, this Sunday is our “tithe week,” where all the local giving will go toward Rebound of Whatcom County’s Ray of Hope Summer Camp, for children coming from challenging situations and home. Please come and give to this great cause. Info at: http://www.reboundwc.org/index.php?page=programs&subpage=ray_of_hope
