Week 1 – Jesus: The Rabbi Who Told Stories and Changed Everything

Join The The Table at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church (1720 Harris Ave.) this Wednesday, January 17th at 6pm for week 1 of 3 of: Jesus – The Rabbi Who Told Stories and Changed Everything, lead by John D. Barry. You think you know Jesus. You have a picture in your mind, based on what you’ve seen on screens and heard people say. But the real Jesus will shock you. In this 3-week session we will look at Jesus’ parables, and find a rabbi who will turn our world upside down. And that’s a good thing.

If you can come at 5:30p, please join us for a shared meal. At 6pm, while the adults engage in their study, the kids will participate in Godly Play (godlyplayfoundation.org)a curriculum that helps kids explore the Christian faith with story, wonder, and play.

We hope you can make it. Invite a friend; everyone is welcome!

What to Expect. The Table welcomes everyone to all our gatherings. We’re a casual, friendly bunch. Our primary gathering is on Wednesday evenings, starting with an optional potluck meal from 5:30p–6p, followed by children and adult classes from 6–7p. The first Wednesday of every month is a worship service, where we sing, pray, hear a Bible-based message, and share in the Lord’s Supper. On the remaining Wednesdays we examine Jesus’ life and teachings via discussion, in 4–6 week themed sessions. Join us for a session!

What about the kids? From 6–7p every Wednesday, the children of The Table participate in Godly Play (godlyplayfoundation.org), a curriculum that helps kids explore the Christian faith with story, wonder, and play.

About us. The Table is a church practicing discipleship, hospitality, and blessing in the name of Jesus. We love Jesus and desire to serve Bellingham. In addition to our Wednesday gatherings, we join our sister church, Mosaic, in monthly service projects around Bellingham. The Table is led by Pastor Aaron Walters, who along with his wife Kate and a crew of others founded The Table in 2010.

WINTER 2018

Jesus – The Rabbi Who Told Stories and Changed Everything. January 17, 24, 31. You think you know Jesus. You have a picture in your mind, based on what you’ve seen on screens and heard people say. Jesus in Film. February 14, 21, 28; March 14, 21, 28. There are many “Jesus” films out there, some more “sacred” than others. But how do they compare to the gospel accounts of Christ?
